Technical Trainer (Vocational Trainer) - Youth Apprenticeship Program

About the role

Stadler, which builds passenger trains, is looking for a Technical Trainer (Vocational Trainer) in Salt Lake City, Utah. The trainer leads the company's youth manufacturing apprenticeship program, acting as primary educator, mentor and program owner for high school students on a dual-education pathway. The role balances hands-on technical instruction, shop-floor safety and curriculum coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Lead development and continuous improvement of the apprenticeship program and own its outcomes and results
• Manage the program budget, technical resources and personnel decisions
• Conduct regular performance assessments with mentors and trainers
• Develop, document and update the training curriculum and implementation plan
• Deliver hands-on instruction on tools, equipment, technology and techniques
• Prepare apprentices for rotational assignments and organize those rotations within the department
• Support recruiting, including job shadow coordination and aptitude assessments
• Partner with internal stakeholders so apprentices and receiving teams succeed

Required profile

• AA or AS degree in Education, Industrial Technology, Engineering Technology or a related field
• 3+ years of experience in technical instruction, youth education, CTE, workforce development or technical training in an industrial, manufacturing or trade setting
• Strong coaching, mentoring and stakeholder-management skills with students, parents, school administrators and shop-floor leads
• Fluent English, verbal and written
• Budgeting experience preferred
