Technical Product Manager, Chemistry IT Systems

About the role

Johnson & Johnson seeks a Technical Product Manager to lead chemistry IT systems for its Innovative Medicine discovery organization, supporting multidisciplinary scientific functions across multiple sites.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to global delivery of cheminformatics and discovery informatics platforms.
• Define and champion data‑driven scientific IT approaches and modernize chemistry‑centric decision‑making.
• Lead portfolio strategy, manage project goals, risks, budgets and evaluate post‑project impact.
• Enable AI and machine‑learning capabilities for molecular invention, including natural‑language search and workflow automation.
• Drive cross‑site multidisciplinary projects and promote effective communication among researchers, developers and engineers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, life sciences or data science (graduate degree preferred).
• 5+ years in pharmaceutical R&D molecular discovery with exposure to small‑molecule, peptide and large‑molecule chemistry.
• Experience partnering with scientific stakeholders and delivering informatics or scientific IT solutions.

Required skills

• Database management and data‑governance principles.
• Experience with pipeline tools such as KNIME or Pipeline Pilot.
• Familiarity with commercial chemistry software (e.g., Schrödinger, BIOVIA, Revvity, OpenEye, ChemAxon).
• Knowledge of open‑source cheminformatics tools (e.g., RDKit, Oligokit).
• Proficiency with data visualization tools like Spotfire and understanding of data warehouses and ETL processes.
