Technical Editor (Mid-Level) – Defense Intelligence

About the role

Amentum is seeking a mid-level Technical Editor to support the Defense Intelligence Agency's Defense Intelligence Enterprise. The editor acts as the final line of quality for intelligence products, sharpening logic and clarity, enforcing agency style and classification standards, and working with analysts to strengthen their cases on the page. The position is contingent on contract award, business needs, security clearance verification and funding availability.

Key responsibilities

• Review intelligence products for grammar, punctuation, syntax, and more importantly for logic, clarity and consistency
• Ensure style and format follow agency publication standards, style guides and the subject matter's specialized vocabulary
• Amend draft tables, tone boxes and graphics so they stay consistent with the text
• Ensure proper classification markings on every product in line with IC guidance
• Work directly with authors to revise products for narrative organization and negotiate further revisions

Required profile

• Active TS/SCI security clearance
• 8+ years of relevant editing experience, with recent experience within the last 2 years
• Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications or a related field
• Command of IC and DoD classification marking guidance
• Ability to tell an analyst their draft needs work and help them fix it
• Safety-sensitive position; drug-free workplace with pre-hire drug screening required

Preferred qualifications

• Prior DIA or IC editorial experience
• Familiarity with DIA style and finished intelligence production
• Experience editing graphics-heavy or data-rich products
