Technical Customer Sales Engineer – Manufacturing Diagnostics

About the role
The Technical Customer Sales Engineer will drive growth for ETAS Manufacturing Diagnostics by identifying market opportunities, partnering with customers and sales teams, and aligning needs with innovative diagnostic solutions. This role acts as the technical bridge between customers, sales, and product management, supporting pre‑sales, solution development, and product roadmap evolution.
Key responsibilities
- Identify and lead new business opportunities, market segments and customer segments to ensure sustainable growth.
- Partner with sales to demonstrate products (e.g., VCATS system), create pre‑sales materials and conduct cost‑benefit analyses.
- Gather and channel customer feedback to product management to influence roadmap.
- Define user requirements, acceptance criteria and translate them into technical solutions.
- Deploy, configure and test hardware/software solutions on‑site, lead verification and troubleshooting.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automotive Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the automotive industry and technology.
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders, manage projects with defined outcomes and apply agile/lean methodologies.
Required skills
- Vehicle diagnostics protocols (e.g., ISO14229, ISO15765, KWP2000, J1939, ISO14230, ISO13400).
- IT systems and networking (Windows XP/7/10, VMware, VirtualBox, TCP/IP, DHCP).
- Databases and data formats (Microsoft SQL Server, XML, ODX, OTX).
- Packet capture and analysis tools (Wireshark, CAN/DoIP logs) and ability to read electrical schematics.
- Programming languages: C++, JavaScript.
- Project tools: JIRA, SAFe, Scrum, Kanban, OKR.
