Technical Coordinator

About the role

The Technical Coordinator supports the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) department at the A. James Clark School of Engineering. Working closely with TechOps, Facilities Management, and shared‑use facilities, the coordinator ensures smooth operation of labs, safety programs, and large‑scale projects.

Key responsibilities

• Manage technical resources for ECE and IREAP, including equipment, contracts, and project timelines.
• Coordinate shared‑use facilities and oversee the Shared Resources Initiative.
• Provide safety and compliance education to students, staff, and faculty.
• Interpret, develop, and implement departmental policies, processes, and initiatives.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to improve operational efficiency and program effectiveness.
• Perform occasional physical tasks such as moving furniture, lifting up to 30 lb, and transporting packages across campus.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• At least one year of experience in lab operations or lab safety management (or equivalent education/experience combination).
• Knowledge of laboratory environments and regulatory agency regulations.
• Strong oral and written communication abilities.
• Ability to multitask while delivering excellent customer service.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace.
