Teaching Assistant Professor – Crop, Soil & Environmental Sciences

About the role

The Department of Crop, Soil, and Environmental Sciences seeks a 9‑month, non‑tenure‑track Teaching Assistant Professor to support undergraduate programs in Crop Science and Environmental, Soil, and Water Sciences. The position involves classroom and laboratory instruction, curriculum development, and student advising.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses such as Introduction to Plant Sciences, Crop Science with lab, Environmental Science for majors, and production courses on major Arkansas crops.
• Participate in curriculum design, management, and program assessment.
• Provide undergraduate and honors advising, and support student clubs and recruitment activities.
• Collaborate with faculty and external stakeholders on multidisciplinary initiatives.
• Maintain regular on‑campus presence and reliable attendance.

Required profile

• Earned Ph.D. in crop science, soil science, agronomy, environmental science, or a closely related field by the appointment date.
• Demonstrated college‑level teaching experience in relevant scientific disciplines.
• Experience with evidence‑based, student‑centered teaching methods.
• Proficiency with a learning management system (e.g., Blackboard or Canvas) and instructional technologies.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to work collegially.
