Program Associate – 12‑Month Poultry Nutrition Research

About the role

The Division of Agriculture at the University of Arkansas seeks a Program Associate for a 12‑month term to supervise and conduct poultry nutrition research in both laboratory and farm settings. The role supports the Center of Excellence for Poultry Science in developing sustainable feeding strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate basic and applied research in the poultry nutrition laboratory and on the university poultry research farm.
• Maintain and operate analytical equipment such as gas chromatography, high‑pressure liquid chromatography, and mass spectrometry.
• Manage chemical and supply inventories, develop and optimize laboratory protocols.
• Prepare IACUC animal use protocols, formulate research feeds, and conduct poultry trials including indirect calorimetry and DEXA analysis.
• Supervise and train students and hourly workers, collect biological samples, and prepare final reports with statistical analysis.

Required profile

• B.S. in Poultry or Animal Science, Nutrition, Chemistry, or Biology with three years of related experience, or an M.S. in one of these fields.
• Experience in laboratory research and animal husbandry.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple research projects.
