Teacher Assistant – K-8 (2026‑2027 School Year)

About the role

The Tucson Unified School District is seeking a Teacher Assistant to support classroom instruction for the 2026‑2027 school year at Dietz K‑8 (22nd St & Kolb Area). This position works directly with teachers to enhance the learning environment for K‑8 students.

Key responsibilities

• Assist teachers with daily classroom teaching duties and lesson preparation.
• Provide one‑on‑one or small‑group support to students as directed.
• Help supervise students during instructional time, transitions, and recess.
• Maintain classroom materials and ensure a safe, organized learning space.
• Complete required documentation such as attendance and incident reports.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Completion of an Arizona Department of Education‑approved Academic Assessment Test, OR an Associate’s degree (or higher), OR two years (60 semester‑hour credits) of post‑high‑school general education.
• At least one year of experience working with youth.
• Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English.
• Proof of diploma, transcript or test results at hire.
• FBI fingerprint background check.
• Proof of immunity to measles and rubella or documented MMR immunization.
