Tax Specialist – Remote

About the role

Podel CPA is seeking a remote Tax Specialist to prepare and complete individual and business tax engagements. You will work from anywhere in the U.S., delivering accurate tax returns while supporting a high‑quality client experience in a paperless, technology‑driven environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare individual and business tax returns, including Forms 1040, 1065, 1120‑S, 1120, and 1041.
• Develop organized workpapers and supporting documentation for reviewer use.
• Review client documents for completeness, accuracy, and consistency; identify missing information and unusual items.
• Document assumptions, open items, and potential issues clearly for reviewers.
• Communicate with clients regarding document requests, deadlines, and deliverables.
• Assist with basic estimated tax calculations, projections, and year‑end planning support.
• Maintain client tasks, statuses, notes, and deadlines in firm systems.
• Follow firm checklists, workflows, templates, naming conventions, and quality‑control processes.
• Organize digital files consistently and use firm technology tools effectively.
• Identify and propose improvements to workflows, templates, and internal processes.

Required profile

• Foundational understanding of tax forms, schedules, and common tax issues.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple client deadlines without oversight.
• Highly organized, tech‑savvy, and comfortable working remotely.
• Resourceful, proactive, and eager to contribute to continuous process improvement.
