Tax Notice Specialist II

About the role

Asure Software, an HCM provider with over 600 employees, is hiring a Tax Notice Specialist II in Santa Ana. The specialist resolves system, agency and client issues about daily, quarterly and annual tax remittances, timely tax filings and the setup of tax types for fund collection. The role also handles tax notices and requests from clients, internal staff and taxing authorities using Asure tools, ensuring payments, filings and agency responses are timely, complete and accurate.

Key responsibilities

• Perform duties in line with internal procedures and external regulations, and flag compliance issues to the manager.
• Resolve tax notices and tell clients what to do or what has changed.
• Resolve client issues by contacting federal, state and local agencies as needed.
• Work with the team and management to troubleshoot issues and complete special projects.
• Record the right documentation for clients and agencies in the Asure CRM tool.
• Respond to agency notices, including wage reporting notices, and create payment files or check, or initiate web payments to federal, state and local agencies.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of payroll tax payment and/or filing experience.
• Multi-state and multi-client local taxation experience preferred.
• Payroll Service Bureau experience preferred.
• Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the US; visa sponsorship is not available.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel and payroll software skills; experience with tax software is helpful.
• Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), Outlook and Evolution Payroll (preferred but not required).
• Strong written and verbal communication, teamwork, attention to detail and accuracy.
