Categorical Budget Analyst

About the role

Under direction, the Categorical Budget Analyst assists division directors in preparing and administering budgets for categorical programs, ensuring compliance with district and governmental guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate preparation of the Consolidated Application for categorical programs and develop budgetary plans.
• Provide guidance to schools and departments on staffing units, fund allocations, transfers, and budget adjustments.
• Monitor, audit, and research categorical budgets, personnel transactions, and variances to ensure proper classification and compliance.
• Prepare complex fiscal, statistical, and government reports and make recommendations for budget modifications.

Required profile

• High school diploma plus two years of college coursework in accounting or budgeting.
• Three years of progressively responsible accounting experience, preferably in a school district.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work cooperatively with administrators.

Required skills

• Knowledge of accounting principles, budget techniques, and fiscal procedures.
• Proficiency with modern office equipment and computer applications for financial reporting.
