Tax Manager – Private Equity (Menlo Park)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Tax Manager to join our Finance team in Menlo Park. Reporting to the Tax Director, you will lead partnership tax compliance, general accounting, and process improvement initiatives for a private equity firm.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee preparation and review of federal and state partnership tax returns (Form 1065) and Schedule K‑1s.
• Manage capital account maintenance, partner allocations, tax basis tracking, and carried‑interest calculations.
• Coordinate with external tax advisors on compliance, planning, and quarterly estimated payments.
• Lead general ledger functions, journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and month‑end/quarter‑end close for tax and hold‑co entities.
• Maintain internal controls, ensure US GAAP or tax‑basis compliance, and support audits.
• Identify and implement workflow automation and efficiency improvements, reporting results to leadership.
• Collaborate with finance, legal, investor relations, and investment teams, and manage relationships with external tax accountants.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting and tax experience, with a focus on partnership taxation.
• Deep knowledge of Subchapter K, capital accounts, and tax‑basis accounting.
• Strong analytical, written, and oral communication skills.
• High attention to detail, time‑management ability, and ethical standards.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with tax and accounting systems.
