Tax Manager

About the role

Armstrong Backus is looking for a Tax Manager in San Angelo. The Tax Manager provides clients with financial information, prepares tax returns, analyzes information and options, prepares general ledger entries and more. The role involves significant client interaction, practice development, involvement in management decisions and exposure to technical issues.

The Tax Manager facilitates the entire client process, from planning through to completion, schedules assignments, supervises staff, mentors and reviews the work of staff-level associates. The position offers significant opportunity for advancement.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clients with financial information and prepare tax returns
• Analyze information and options, and prepare general ledger entries
• Schedule assignments, supervise staff, mentor and review the work of associates
• Facilitate the full client process, including planning, performing the engagement and concluding the project

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field with 150 credit hours, or a Master's degree in accounting
• CPA certification and a minimum of five years of tax experience
• Enjoys working in a team, serving clients and taking on challenges
• Confident, self-directed, articulate and goal-oriented, able to delegate and manage multiple projects and deadlines

Required skills

• Skilled use of Microsoft software and proficiency in Windows environments
• Familiarity with accounting and tax preparation software
• Ability to meet aggressive deadlines and prioritize tasks
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients and business partners
• Project and team management, with attention to detail
