Tax Compliance Officer III

About the role

The Vermont Department of Taxes is seeking a Tax Compliance Officer III to join its Compliance Division. In this role you will help ensure fair and accurate tax collection while providing education and outreach to Vermont taxpayers.

Key responsibilities

• Collect unpaid taxes on behalf of the state via phone and other channels.
• Arrange formal payment agreements, propose settlements, and waive selected penalties when appropriate.
• Establish personal liability and initiate bank or wage garnishment orders and property liens.
• Conduct education and outreach to promote voluntary compliance.
