About the role

The Division of Alcoholic Beverages & Tobacco is seeking a Tax Auditor I to conduct complex tax audits of alcohol and tobacco licensed entities. This professional position supports compliance with state tax laws and assists businesses operating in Florida.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, verify, and deposit all monies collected by the division, including checks and EFTs.
• Post receipt numbers, dates, and payment amounts to monthly taxable reports and audit logs.
• Examine and audit purchase and sales documents, receipts, invoices, and related accounting records of wholesale and retail establishments.
• Identify unreported tax liabilities, evaluate evidence, and bill the appropriate entities.
• Maintain and process cigarette tax indicia, prepare required documents, invoices, and update accounts receivable ledger cards.
• Prepare and post transactions to the cigarette tax stamp control and transaction reports.

Required profile

• Ability to perform complex tax audits of alcohol and tobacco licensed entities.
• Strong attention to detail in reviewing financial and tax documents.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with licensees by phone, correspondence, or in person.
