Tax Associate – Business Tax Services (Sacramento)

About the role

KPMG is seeking a Tax Associate to join its Business Tax Services practice in Sacramento. You will work with a diverse team of professionals to help high‑profile clients navigate complex tax planning, compliance and consulting challenges while leveraging innovative technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Assist clients with tax planning, compliance and consulting engagements.
• Supervise and allocate work for shared‑services team members and interns.
• Prepare and review tax provisions for financial statements and coordinate with audit teams.
• Analyze, prepare and review tax workpapers, returns, estimated payments and extensions.
• Research and draft technical memoranda for compliance and consulting projects.
• Respond to inquiries from the IRS and other tax authorities, including controversy support.
• Develop capabilities in AI, Alteryx, Power BI and other emerging tax technologies.
• Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams to maintain strong client relationships.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting, finance, taxation, economics, information technology, data analytics or a related field, completed within the past 12 months.
• Pursuing state‑specific CPA education requirements with required academic credits completed before start date.
• Preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Strong technical, business acumen, critical‑thinking and agility skills.
