Systems Engineer – Infrastructure (Hyper-V, Windows Server)

About the role

We are supporting a client in Metro Detroit who needs a hands‑on Systems Engineer for their infrastructure team. The role is production‑focused and requires ownership of core systems such as Hyper‑V, Windows Server, Storage Spaces Direct, and Palo Alto firewalls.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain Hyper‑V virtualization environments in a live production setting.
• Administer Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP services.
• Implement and support clustering, high‑availability, and infrastructure resiliency solutions.
• Provide day‑to‑day support for Palo Alto firewalls and enterprise network infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot issues across servers, storage, virtualization, and networking layers.
• Develop PowerShell scripts and automate infrastructure tasks.
• Assist with migrations and support for SQL Server, IIS, and Storage Spaces Direct where needed.

Required profile

• Proven experience administering Hyper‑V and Windows Server in production environments.
• Strong understanding of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, clustering, and high‑availability concepts.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, high‑responsibility IT setting.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills across server, storage, virtualization, and network domains.
