Systems Coordinator for Research Computing

About the role

The Gordon-CenSSIS Center seeks a Systems Coordinator to manage and maintain research computing systems, provide technical support, and ensure reliable network services for faculty, staff, students, and contractors.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver 1st, 2nd and limited 3rd tier support for hardware, software, mobile devices, and network issues, both virtually and onsite.
• Administer, monitor and maintain Windows and Linux servers, handle software licensing, and coordinate hardware repairs.
• Create and maintain documentation, user guides, and training materials; conduct training sessions as needed.
• Perform security evaluations, emergency response, and escalation to vendors or higher‑tier support when required.

Required profile

• 2‑4 years of end‑user IT support and systems administration experience in an academic or business environment.
• Strong customer‑service orientation with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and lift up to 25 lb.

Required skills

• Windows administration tools and Windows Server.
• Linux server administration.
• Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, etc.).
• VMware virtualization.
• TCP/IP protocols and services (LDAP, NFS, CIFS, DNS, DHCP).
• Web technologies (WordPress, Drupal, HTML, CSS).
• Software such as Adobe Suite, Matlab, Zoom, WebEx.
• Relevant certifications (MCSE, Linux, VMware, ITIL) are a plus.
