System Engineer - Enterprise Data Engineer (Mission-Focused)

About the role
Esri's Professional Services team is looking for a System Engineer / Enterprise Data Engineer to design and deliver mission-critical geospatial data platforms supporting national security. You will work directly with mission-focused organizations to architect, deploy and optimize enterprise data environments that power ArcGIS-driven systems, operating across complex, secure cloud, on-premises and hybrid infrastructures.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement robust, scalable and secure database solutions for mission-critical applications
- Work with cross-functional teams through requirements, analysis, design, build/configuration and deployment
- Configure and maintain database environments, including backup, restore, high availability and disaster recovery
- Monitor and tune database performance using tools such as query optimization and indexing strategies
- Implement data security, access controls and compliance standards
- Automate routine database loading, maintenance and monitoring tasks
- Advise on database design, migration and integration projects
Required profile
- 8+ years of hands-on experience designing, administering and optimizing databases (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL or SAP HANA)
- Demonstrated experience with data loading, backup and recovery, performance tuning, maintenance and security
- US citizenship with Active or current (within 2 years) Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, GIS or a related STEM field
Required skills
- SQL and Python scripting for automation
- Cloud databases such as AWS RDS and Azure SQL Database
- Geospatial concepts: spatial data types, coordinate systems and spatial indexing
- Preferred: ArcGIS Enterprise geodatabases, CompTIA Security+, and industry-standard IT certifications

- Estimated base salary of $120,640-$197,600 USD
