System Engineer - ArcGIS Enterprise

About the role

Esri is hiring a System Engineer in Redlands to deploy, optimize and support advanced ArcGIS implementations in complex customer environments for Professional Services engagements. The engineer works directly with customers on ArcGIS Enterprise architecture, deployment, configuration, integration and performance, and shares expertise in the Esri community on system performance, troubleshooting, scalability, compute capacity and security.

Key responsibilities

• Deploy complex ArcGIS solutions across multiple data centers, geographically distributed sites, disaster recovery architectures, cloud-native setups and automation.
• Configure and optimize ArcGIS Enterprise environments to meet customer SLAs and operational requirements.
• Advise customers on effective solutions and recommend architectures, then help build implementation, upgrade and migration plans.
• Assess business and technical requirements, design resilient architectures and mitigate operational risks.
• Work with Professional Services staff to resolve complex deployment issues and with customers to optimize GIS workflows on ArcGIS Enterprise.
• Contribute to Esri and Professional Services technical communities and share best practices.

Required profile

• 5+ years implementing, administering and supporting enterprise GIS solutions.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, GIS, Mathematics, Engineering or a related STEM field.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, and clear communication with customers, executives and technical teams.

Required skills

• Experience deploying and supporting enterprise GIS with Esri products.
• Windows and/or Linux system administration.
• Relational databases such as SQL Server, Oracle and/or PostgreSQL.
• Enterprise Geodatabases (highly desirable).
• Networking basics: domains, Active Directory, DNS, HTTPS, firewalls, proxies, load balancing.
• Preferred: SOA, cloud computing, cloud-native solutions, software engineering principles and a Master's degree.
