Swim Instructor II

About the role

Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, the Swim Instructor II teaches swim lessons following the YMCA of the USA model, primarily working with children.

Key responsibilities

• Provide excellent member service and exceed expectations.
• Prepare equipment, start and end classes on time, and maintain accurate attendance and skill completion records.
• Communicate children’s progress to parents regularly and report absences.
• Ensure safety by monitoring all participants, enforcing pool rules, and being prepared for emergencies.
• Incorporate personal safety, water orientation, stroke development, water sports, games, rescue, and personal growth into each lesson.

Required profile

• At least 16 years of age; no prior experience required.
• Physically able to interact with members, scan the pool, and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Available for varying shifts including early mornings, nights, and weekends.

Required skills

• CPR certification.
• First Aid certification.
• O2YMCA Swim Lessons certification (preferred).
