Sushi Clerk

About the role

Hy-Vee is hiring a Sushi Clerk for its Hy-Chi department in Manhattan. The role is part of the food service team and involves filling customer orders, preparing fresh product and keeping the department running smoothly. It is an hourly position open to people aged 18 or older.

Key responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly, learn their names and go the extra mile to make every visit positive
• Take orders at the counter and over the phone, and help customers find products, reach items and carry heavy purchases
• Review daily orders and monitor product freshness, appearance and supply levels
• Prepare, finish and replenish product, pulling items from the cooler or freezer
• Maintain proper sanitation, keep the work area clean and organized, and check in and put away product with accurate labeling and dating
• Anticipate daily product needs, follow or develop a production list, and order product and supplies as needed
• Work with teammates, follow the dress code and hygiene standards, and assist in other store areas and special projects

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Food Safety Certification required
• Six months or more of similar or related experience preferred
• Ability to safely use sharp knives and blades, and exposure to heat and burn hazards from cooking equipment
• Ability to operate a delivery vehicle in line with DOT standards
• Pre-employment drug screen required
