Surplus Lines Tax Analyst

About the role

The Surplus Lines Tax Analyst will coordinate the timely filing and payment of surplus lines taxes for up to six states, working within a collaborative national team. The role requires cross‑training on additional states to provide coverage and support for colleagues across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit accurate surplus lines tax filing reports for assigned states.
• Provide internal guidance on surplus lines tax matters and assist peers in interpreting state regulations.
• Communicate with state insurance departments to ensure statutory compliance.
• Investigate and resolve tax corrections and respond to inquiries from field offices.
• Participate in projects and other ad‑hoc activities as needed.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong understanding of insurance regulations, statutes, and commercial property/casualty coverage.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong analytical, prioritization, and critical‑thinking abilities.
• Capacity to meet strict filing deadlines for multiple state tax due dates.
