Surgical R&D Co‑Op – Fall 2027 (Austin)

About the role

As a key member of the Surgical Team, you will support Enovis in advancing medical technology through product development and design. This one‑year, full‑time co‑op provides hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment focused on orthopedics and surgical solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the New Product Development team in identifying surgeon requirements and product characteristics.
• Use 3‑D modeling and CAD tools to create and modify product designs and generate detailed engineering drawings.
• Develop and maintain design documentation, including Design Dossiers, Design History Files, test protocols and reports.
• Participate in surgeon symposia, focus groups, KOL meetings and surgical laboratory demonstrations.
• Collaborate with marketing, manufacturing, purchasing and regulatory teams to develop conceptual designs and prototypes.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering program (mechanical track) with at least two years completed.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
• Strong interest in medical devices and orthopedics.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week on‑site in Austin for a full calendar year.

Required skills

• 3‑D modeling and CAD software proficiency.
• Experience creating and maintaining Design History Files and related documentation.
• Project planning software usage for schedule and progress reporting.
• Prototype development, including 3D‑printed and metal models.
• Understanding of ECO (Engineering Change Order) processes.
