Financial Counseling Representative

About the role

R1 is a revenue cycle technology company that helps hospitals, health systems and medical groups improve financial performance. It is hiring three Financial Counseling Representatives in Austin, at Dell Seton Medical, Dell Children's and Seton Medical Center. The role counsels uninsured and under-insured patients to find a paying funding source for their medical services, explaining financial options and obligations accurately and compassionately.

Key responsibilities

• Counsel uninsured and under-insured patients to obtain a paying funding source for their medical care
• Explain financial options and obligations clearly and compassionately during counseling sessions with patients
• Navigate multiple systems and communicate complex coverage enrollment information to patients
• Assist patients with their applications and help them reduce financial burdens related to medical care

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED
• Excellent customer service skills and compassionate communication
• Ability to multi-task, move between work areas and stay mobile throughout the day
• Understanding of Medicaid and other funding programs; previous experience as a financial counselor, a background in medical terminology, or relevant healthcare experience is a plus
• Willingness to receive vaccinations, pass a drug test and a background check before hire
