About the role
The University of Miami seeks a Surgical Director to lead its adult Kidney and Kidney/Pancreas Transplant Programs. This senior faculty position provides strategic, clinical, operational, and academic leadership to drive program growth, quality, and innovation.
Key responsibilities
- Partner with Medical Directors, Surgical Director of Transplant Services, and hospital administration to ensure regulatory compliance and clinical excellence.
- Oversee all phases of transplant care including candidate evaluation, donor selection, peri‑operative management, and long‑term follow‑up.
- Develop and execute strategic plans to increase transplant volumes and expand the living donor program.
- Lead program development, quality oversight, faculty mentorship, and infrastructure planning.
- Enhance regional and national referral networks and advance robotic transplant capabilities.
Required profile
- Board Certified Surgeon (or equivalent) with an unrestricted Florida medical license.
- Completion of an accredited Transplant Surgery Fellowship.
- Minimum five years of abdominal transplant experience focused on kidney and kidney/pancreas transplantation.
- Proven leadership in a transplant program and experience with living donor transplantation.
- Commitment to mentorship, faculty development, and academic advancement.
