Surgery Scrub Tech

About the role

Citizens Health is seeking a full‑time Surgical Scrub Tech to support the surgery department at Citizens Medical Center in Colby, KS. The role involves preparing operating rooms, maintaining sterile fields, and assisting surgeons during procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain and set up supplies for daily surgeries and prepare assigned operating rooms.
• Create and maintain sterile fields, pass instruments, and perform instrument counts according to policy.
• Take rotating on‑call duties and assist with cleaning, stocking, and instrument processing.
• Support surgeons by passing instruments and equipment, and ensure proper documentation of counts.

Required profile

• Certification from an accredited surgical technology program preferred; high school diploma or GED acceptable with on‑the‑job training.
• Knowledge of sterile technique and general surgery principles.
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff across departments and follow nursing and quality standards.
• Strong interpersonal skills, self‑starter attitude, and professional conduct.

Required skills

• Sterile field creation and maintenance.
• Instrument passing and surgical count procedures.
• Operation of OR equipment such as steam sterilizers, microscopes, electrosurgical devices, and power instruments.
• Cleaning and stocking of surgical supplies.
