Surgery Scheduler – Coordinating Surgical Procedures

About the role

The University of Miami is seeking a Surgery Scheduler 2 to work on‑site at Desai Sethi Medical Center. The role serves as a liaison between patients, physicians, and professional staff to ensure smooth scheduling of surgical and diagnostic procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain pre‑authorizations from insurance companies as required.
• Produce and distribute surgical and procedural schedules to physicians and departments.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and providers to schedule surgeries, pre‑op physicals, and testing.
• Coordinate special cases with hospitals and external vendors.
• Identify and suggest process improvements for surgical scheduling.
• Maintain electronic scheduling systems and resolve any technical issues promptly.
• Ensure complete documentation to support accurate billing.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum three years of relevant scheduling experience.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
