Supply Chain Intern (Summer 2027)

About the role

Impulse Space is hiring a Supply Chain Intern for Summer 2027, a 12-week program from May/June to August/September 2027. The intern works with Planning, Engineering, Logistics and Production to support procurement and supplier management for the delivery of hardware and materials needed to design and manufacture spacecraft. The internship is based on-site in Redondo Beach, CA.

Key responsibilities

• Support quoting and purchase order issuance for many commodity part types
• Work with design and manufacturing engineers to keep the bill of materials current in a dynamic design environment
• Manage supplier profiles, including general information and payment terms
• Provide vendors with forecast information so they can deliver parts across multiple programs on schedule
• Manage several RFPs to select suppliers on cost, lead time and capabilities
• Help design teams release designs against lead time assumptions and identify vendors for on-time delivery
• Monitor inventory against demand and consumption and set up efficient procurement systems
• Coordinate logistics for outsourced parts, drop shipments and open orders, and manage supplier performance
• Track supplier progress and recover schedules when delays occur
• Verify receipt accuracy against purchase orders and vendor invoicing

Required profile

• Recent completion or ongoing studies in supply chain, operations, business administration or engineering
• Ability to take project ownership and work well in a small team
• Willingness to work on-site in Redondo Beach, CA for the full internship, with possible overtime hours
• U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, protected individual status or eligibility for the required authorizations under ITAR

Preferred skills

• Experience in procurement, sourcing, contract negotiation and cost analysis
• Knowledge of MRP and supply chain concepts
• Understanding of manufacturing processes for mechanical components

The internship pays $30 per hour. Compensation varies by role, level, location and market data, and may include long-term incentives, medical, vision and dental coverage and a 401(k) plan for full-time hires.
