Sourcing Specialist (All Levels)

About the role

Impulse Space is hiring a Sourcing Specialist in Redondo Beach to manage sourcing and supplier execution for hardware, materials and services critical to spacecraft development and production. The role works closely with engineering, quality, planning, manufacturing and program teams to balance cost, quality, delivery and technical risk, and covers supplier management, competitive sourcing, negotiation and supply-risk mitigation. Pay ranges from $80,000 to $155,000 per year.

Key responsibilities

• Own sourcing, procurement and supplier execution for assigned parts, suppliers, commodities or projects, from requirements through delivery
• Serve as the primary commercial contact for assigned suppliers and manage their performance, capacity, cost and contracts
• Lead RFQs and supplier evaluations on cost, lead time, technical capability, capacity, quality and compliance
• Negotiate pricing, lead times, payment terms, minimum-order quantities and tooling arrangements
• Source development and production hardware with engineering, manufacturing, planning and program teams
• Work with Supply Chain Engineering to qualify suppliers against technical, quality, regulatory and business requirements
• Monitor supplier performance and lead recovery efforts when cost, quality, delivery or responsiveness fall short
• Drive cost reduction through competitive sourcing, cost analysis, demand consolidation and supplier negotiations
• Maintain purchasing and supplier data, resolve delivery and invoice issues, improve sourcing processes and guide junior team members
• Travel to supplier sites as needed; travel up to 15%

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Operations, Finance or a related field
• 3+ years of experience in sourcing, procurement, supply chain or supplier management
• Demonstrated experience managing suppliers, purchase orders, RFQs and procurement activities
• Experience evaluating supplier proposals and negotiating pricing and lead times
• Experience with ERP, MRP, procurement or inventory-management systems
• Preferred: 5+ years of experience and experience in aerospace, defense, automotive or other high-reliability manufacturing
• Preferred: experience sourcing machined components, raw materials, PCB/PCBA, composites, propulsion hardware or COTS hardware
• Preferred: supplier qualification, audits, corrective actions, alternate sourcing and cost-modeling experience; familiarity with AS9100, ITAR and EAR
• U.S. person or eligible to obtain an export license, due to ITAR and EAR requirements

Required skills

• Strong analytical and communication skills
• Preferred: advanced Excel; SQL, Power BI or similar tools are a plus
