Supply Chain Intern - Production Planning

About the role

Saputo, a top 10 global dairy processor, offers Supply Chain internships in its supply chain departments, including Material Requirements Planning (MRP), Demand Planning, Supply Planning, Production Planning, Transportation/Logistics, Customer Service and Cheese Procurement. The Production Planning intern supports the department by helping identify and implement cost reduction, network optimization and process improvement opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Support the department by planning SKUs, routes, categories or distribution centers.
• Provide key performance indicators (KPIs) to leadership.
• Identify and communicate risks such as overages, shortages and delays to key stakeholders.
• Complete one to three projects, for example evaluating network layout against ordering quantities, distribution footprint, warehouse and transportation costs, and recommending improvements to sourcing flows, stocking points and purchase schedules.
• Evaluate customer order patterns, shelf life and lead time to recommend make-to-order or make-to-stock approaches, including target quantities or reorder quantities.

Required profile

• Pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management, Economics, Statistics/Mathematics or Industrial Engineering.
• Familiarity with supply chain concepts and software, and with operational planning and scheduling.
• Self-motivated, able to multi-task, work independently and as part of a team, and professional in representing Saputo.
• Able to work scheduled hours and required overtime, and reliable, honest, respectful, detail-oriented and punctual.

Required skills

• Analytical and data management skills, including statistical analysis.
• Intermediate Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, IF/THEN).
• Previous SAP experience preferred.
