Amprius Technologies, Inc. · Fremont
Job description
About the role
Amprius Technologies, a manufacturer of silicon-anode lithium-ion cells, is looking for Supplier Quality Engineers to ensure that purchased materials and cells meet its standards. You will be the quality owner for a set of suppliers or contract manufacturers, working alongside the supply manager who owns the commercial relationship. You will qualify new sources, monitor ongoing performance and drive problems to root cause and permanent fixes. The role reports to the Senior Supplier Quality Manager.
Key responsibilities

- Ongoing performance: track yield, defect and on-time data and publish quarterly scores; run regular quality reviews with suppliers and contract manufacturers, and lead on-site audits and process checks; review and approve supplier change notifications through the change control process.
- Problem solving: lead responses to nonconforming material and quality escapes, covering containment, root cause and corrective action (8D / CAPA); drive corrective actions to closure and verify they prevent repeat issues; lead or support Lean and Six Sigma projects that improve supplier quality and cost.
- Focus areas: contract manufacturer roles cover cell assembly and formation process quality, in-process controls, outgoing quality and on-site presence during builds and ramps; materials roles cover anode, cathode, electrolyte, separator and packaging materials, certificates of analysis, material characterization and lot-to-lot consistency.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in chemical, materials, mechanical or electrical engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years in supplier quality or manufacturing quality for manufactured hardware (5+ years for Senior level).
- Hands-on experience with supplier audits, PPAP or first-article approval, and 8D or CAPA.
- Willingness to travel internationally 25-40%, including supplier and contract manufacturer sites in Asia.
Required skills
- Working knowledge of FMEA, control plans, SPC and measurement system analysis.
- Nice to have: lithium-ion cell, battery or battery materials experience; process-heavy manufacturing (chemicals, coatings, semiconductors, displays); aerospace or defense supply base experience (AS9100); ASQ CQE certification, Six Sigma Green or Black Belt, or ISO / AS9100 auditor training.

- Vacation leave starting at 3 weeks per year, 10 paid holidays and sick time off.
