Supplier Partnerships Manager - US
Opply · Chicago
Job description
About the role
Opply is a VC-backed software startup that helps food and consumer goods brands buy ingredients through an AI-powered platform with automated ordering, predictive forecasting, supplier matching and embedded credit. It is looking for a Supplier Partnerships Manager for its New Logo Operations team in the USA, working remotely or hybrid (3-5 days per week in the Chicago office). This is a commercial, relationship-led role at the intersection of partnerships, sales and sourcing, with a clear path to grow as the US supply network expands.
Key responsibilities
- Identify, pursue and onboard new suppliers whose ingredients can be sold through Opply, expanding category coverage and revenue.
- Build a pipeline of supplier opportunities and qualify ruthlessly, focusing on the relationships and deals most likely to convert.
- Negotiate core commercial terms, including pricing and minimum order quantities, to support profitable orders.
- Attend industry events, trade shows and supplier meetings to build a strong personal network and stay close to supply and opportunity.
- Own key supplier relationships that deliver better rates, service levels, reliability and responsiveness.
- Connect with brands to understand what they want from their supplier network, and use those relationships to support or finalise product sales.
- Pair supplier products with buyer demand to drive quote-to-order conversion, presenting competitive supplier options and structuring deals that generate margin.
- Turn one-off sourcing into repeatable order volume; closing deals end-to-end is a strong plus.
- Support the operations team by collecting and maintaining technical and compliance information from suppliers, including product specifications and certifications, and tracking pricing, availability and certification coverage.
Required profile
- 3 years in a commercial role such as sales, business development, partnerships, account management or commercial operations; a track record of building relationships and chasing opportunities matters more than a procurement background.
- Exposure to the food and beverage industry is helpful but not essential.
- Strong commercial instincts: a feel for pricing, margins and negotiation, and a sense of which opportunities are worth pursuing.
- Comfortable carrying targets and managing multiple supplier and buyer conversations at once in a fast-moving environment.
- A clear, confident communicator who builds trust with external partners quickly.
What we offer
- $80,000 base salary, with an estimated OTE of $100,000 if targets are hit.
- Remote or hybrid work, with 3-5 days per week in the Chicago office.
