Supervisor of Controls

About the role

Georgetown University’s Department of Facilities Maintenance is seeking a Supervisor of Controls to lead the operation and optimization of building automation and HVAC control systems across its campuses. The role focuses on improving energy efficiency, ensuring environmental comfort, and delivering reliable system performance.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor HVAC system energy consumption and performance, providing recommendations for improvement.
• Oversee modification of control designs and operations to enhance effectiveness, efficiency, and reliability.
• Identify, develop, and execute energy projects, programs, and initiatives that reduce campus energy usage.
• Perform technical calculations and analyses to assess mechanical system performance.
• Serve as technical consultant for design manuals, preventive maintenance programs, and commissioning processes.
• Lead interactions with controls service providers for construction, installation, and redesign of systems.
• Support division administrative functions including reporting, procurement, contract management, and HR matters.

Required profile

• BS degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related technical field (Associate’s degree with extensive experience acceptable).
• Minimum 7 years of experience in facilities management, building automation systems, energy management, or related disciplines.
• Proven ability to manage complex technical projects and lead cross‑functional teams.
• Strong analytical skills for performance assessment and energy savings calculations.
