Substation Project Manager

About the role

Wilson Construction Company is seeking an experienced Substation Project Manager to lead large‑scale utility substation construction projects from our Rancho Cordova, CA office. The role requires a results‑oriented professional who can provide technical and project‑management leadership while coordinating across departments and with project owners.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical and project‑management efforts on fast‑paced utility substation projects (15kV‑500kV).
• Develop, plan, coordinate, and fulfill all technical requirements for assigned projects.
• Manage inter‑departmental communication and represent the company in day‑to‑day project activities.
• Plan, budget, and establish project objectives, ensuring safety, quality, and profitability.
• Oversee permitting, estimating, procurement, and material management.
• Report progress, cost, schedule, design considerations, and risks to stakeholders.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of office and field management or technical services experience in 15kV‑500kV utility substation construction.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
• Experience managing EPC, Greenfield, and Brownfield substation projects, including renewable interconnects.
• Willingness to travel and work outdoors as required; residence within reasonable distance of Rancho Cordova or willingness to relocate.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office.
• Experience with Microsoft Project (preferred).
• Experience with Primavera scheduling software (preferred).
• Knowledge of permitting, planning, estimating, procurement, and material management.
