Substance Abuse Counselor – Youth Residential Program

About the role

PsyPhyCare is seeking a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) to provide on‑site substance‑abuse prevention and counseling services for a federally supported residential youth program serving ages 16‑24 in Ottumwa, IA.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver individual and group counseling focused on alcohol, drug, and tobacco use.
• Develop and facilitate prevention and education programs.
• Engage with students throughout residential areas, including dormitories, dining and recreation spaces.
• Collaborate with program leadership and interdisciplinary staff to support student development and relapse prevention.
• Provide crisis intervention and behavioral support as needed.
• Create individualized case‑management plans to improve retention and overall wellness.
• Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in compliance with HIPAA and relevant regulations.

Required profile

• Active Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) certification in Iowa.
• Minimum one year of experience delivering substance‑abuse or behavioral health services to adolescents or young adults.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (preferred).
