Customer Service Representative - Patient Registration (PRN)

About the role

R1 is a revenue cycle technology company serving hospitals, health systems and medical groups, and is hiring a Customer Service Representative for patient registration at LifePoint Ottumwa Regional Medical Center. The position is part-time and as needed (PRN), with no fixed schedule and shifts ranging from 8 to 12 hours. Availability for day, evening, overnight, holiday and weekend shifts, and for an on-call schedule, is required.

Key responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact for patients, helping them check in and register efficiently across multiple computer systems
• Answer phones and gather accurate patient information quickly in a fast-paced environment
• Navigate insurance plans and coverage, enter demographics and medical data, collect co-pays and give cost estimates when applicable
• Minimize registration delays so patients get timely access to care
• Work with nurses, physicians and care teams to keep patient flow smooth

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to pass a background check, drug test and meet vaccination requirements
• No healthcare background is required; training is provided
• Experience with patient access, medical registration, insurance verification or front desk is a plus

• Base pay of $14.50 - $18.99 per hour, depending on role, level, location, experience and education
