Studio Arts Lecturer (Part-time)

About the role

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore seeks a part‑time Studio Arts Lecturer to join the Department of Fine Arts. The position involves teaching face‑to‑face studio courses and fostering an inclusive, student‑centered learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses in drawing, painting, photography, graphic design, sculpture, ceramics, and related studio subjects.
• Provide timely, constructive feedback on student work and assess performance according to university deadlines.
• Maintain regular office hours, respond promptly to student and faculty communications, and support course administration.

Required profile

• Demonstrated commitment to the mission of an HBCU and to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Two to three years of university‑level teaching experience preferred.
• Active professional art practice with a recent exhibition record (1‑2 years).
• Ability to teach art appreciation, art history, and studio courses.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience using Canvas or a comparable Learning Management System.
• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
• Basic knowledge of Google applications.
