Student Technician – Laboratory Support

About the role

The Student Technician provides hands‑on assistance in analytical chemistry, chemical or biological engineering, food and agricultural science, or clinical research. This position supports daily laboratory operations and multidisciplinary research projects at Texas A&M Agrilife Research.

Key responsibilities

• Assist researchers with daily lab tasks and experimental workflows.
• Prepare and process samples using a variety of techniques and instruments.
• Perform basic lab work such as weighing, pipetting, labeling, organizing samples, and logging data.
• Maintain lab cleanliness, including benches, autoclave room, microscopy lab, and instrument areas.
• Operate, clean, and calibrate laboratory equipment; handle autoclaving and sterilization.
• Receive, log, and ship incoming and outgoing packages and samples.
• Support inventory management and restocking of supplies.

Required profile

• Current undergraduate or graduate student at Texas A&M University.
• Major in Biology, Chemistry, Chemical or Biological Engineering, Biochemistry, Food Science, Nutrition, Biomedical Sciences, Agriculture, or related field.
• Previous lab experience (training will be provided).
• Detail‑oriented, dependable, and able to follow instructions with minimal supervision.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to ~25 lb.
