Postdoctoral Research Associate in Arctic Sea Level Studies

About the role

The Postdoctoral Research Associate will work under the supervision of Dr. Roger Creel to develop open‑source Arctic relative sea‑level databases, model spatiotemporal trends since the Last Glacial Maximum, and evaluate glacial isostatic adjustment predictions.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain open‑source relational databases containing Arctic relative sea‑level data.
• Apply statistical models to fill spatial and temporal data gaps and interpolate RSL changes across inaccessible regions.
• Calculate misfit values between modeled RSL trends and GIA model predictions to refine ice‑history and Earth‑parameter estimates.

Required profile

• PhD in Geology, Earth Science, or a related discipline.
• Experience conducting Arctic fieldwork to collect relative sea‑level data, preferably in Greenland.
• Strong oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Experience with statistical modeling and data interpolation.
• Proficiency in building and managing relational databases.
• Knowledge of glacial isostatic adjustment concepts and modeling.
