Farm Aide

About the role

The Farm Aide provides preventative maintenance and general property upkeep for the university farm, operating machinery and assisting with daily farm tasks under supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Mow, weed‑eat, edge, and blow lawns weekly; trim trees, hedges and maintain flower beds.
• Maintain fences, gates, barns, and other farm structures; keep barns, pens and equipment areas clean and organized.
• Operate and service farm equipment such as tractors, UTVs, power washers and irrigation systems.
• Perform seasonal and special projects, including fire‑break lane maintenance and emergency response duties.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; no prior experience required.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift light to heavy objects with assistance.
• Safety‑mindset, detail‑oriented and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

Required skills

• Operation of mechanical, gas‑powered, electrical and battery‑operated machines.
• Mechanical aptitude for minor repairs and equipment maintenance.
• Basic knowledge of livestock behavior and animal care.
• Irrigation system inspection and repair.
