About the role
The International Rescue Committee is seeking a motivated Student Support Intern to join its NYSA program. This hybrid position runs from June 1 to August 28, 2026, offering hands‑on experience in behavioral support and student services within a trauma‑informed, non‑profit environment.
Key responsibilities
- Review case notes and compile weekly student progress data to inform accommodations and behavior plans.
- Assist with case note writing and develop tools for behavioral interventions.
- Collaborate with Classroom Culture Lead Teachers to gain insight into student behavior and engagement.
- Monitor implementation of accommodations and track effectiveness of interventions.
- Participate in parent/teacher conferences and family events during the Academy.
- Facilitate 1:1 and small‑group SEL activities that promote emotional regulation and positive peer interaction.
- Lead proactive circle‑time sessions in classrooms or small groups.
- Conduct family outreach for program updates (excluding behavioral concerns) and support post‑Academy survey distribution.
- Assist with program outreach, reminders, and administrative tasks as needed.
Required profile
- Based in the United States.
- Available to work a minimum of 15 hours per week, with preference for additional hours.
- Interest in education, behavioral support, and non‑profit work.
