Student Finance Specialist

About the role

Covista, a healthcare education provider, is hiring a full-time Student Finance Specialist in Reno, Nevada. The role promotes student success by giving accurate, timely and student-centred advice on student finance, supporting prospective students and applicants through the new student process with financial aid guidance and financial literacy education. It also acts as a backup for enrollment events and supports continuing students as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Work with enrollment to answer incoming student questions, review program and student costs and outline funding options
• Create and confirm an accurate financial plan with clear timelines so students are ready to start and stay in school
• Handle inbound and outbound calls, emails and SMS, and run virtual advising appointments and proactive outreach
• Attend and support campus connection sessions with the enrollment team and student support liaison
• Educate students on cost of attendance, funding timelines, repayment and implications for continued enrollment
• Promote student self-service tools during advising and orientation, and manage follow-up tasks to meet service level expectations
• Document all interactions accurately in institutional systems and comply with Title IV, state and federal regulations

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree required
• 1+ year of experience in higher education, financial aid advising, customer service or a related field
• Eligible to obtain and maintain access to the NSLDS system and not in default of Title IV federal aid
• Able to work varied office hours including evenings and weekends

Required skills

• Experience with Student Financial Aid software preferred
• Exposure to Microsoft Word, Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint and Copilot; Student Information Systems a plus
• Strong interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills, able to work independently and in teams
