Structural Design Engineer (PE) – Transit Projects

About the role

ACCIONA is seeking a licensed Professional Engineer to lead the structural design of transit‑related infrastructure such as bridges, culverts, retaining walls and repairs. The role involves full‑cycle design, documentation, and coordination to ensure safe, code‑compliant solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Perform structural and detailed design of transit structures in accordance with AASHTO, CSA‑S6, AISC and ACI standards.
• Prepare technical notes, engineering drawings, specifications and Bills of Quantities.
• Serve as Engineer of Record, signing and sealing plans per licensure requirements.
• Conduct advanced analysis, 3D numerical modeling and design verification.
• Supervise and quality‑control quantity calculations and take‑offs performed by team members.
• Review shop drawings, RFIs, NCRs and ensure compliance with construction procedures.
• Coordinate with clients, approving authorities, partner design firms and internal production centers.
• Provide technical assistance on‑site, issue inspection reports and validate execution of structural elements.

Required profile

• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Proven experience designing transit‑related structures and familiarity with relevant codes.
• Ability to produce and sign technical reports, drawings and specifications.
• Strong supervisory and coordination skills, with willingness to travel for out‑of‑state assignments.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CSI software package, MIDAS, Sofistik or similar analysis tools.
• Advanced structural analysis and 3D numerical modeling.
• Knowledge of AASHTO, CSA‑S6, AISC and ACI codes.
• Preparation of Bills of Quantities and technical documentation.
