Structural Design Engineer (PE)

About the role

ACCIONA is seeking a licensed Professional Engineer to lead the structural design of transit‑related projects and buildings. The role involves delivering detailed designs, technical reports, drawings, and specifications that meet client requirements and applicable codes.

Key responsibilities

• Design bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and structural repairs in accordance with AASHTO, CSA‑S6, AISC, ACI and other relevant standards.
• Prepare technical notes, engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of quantities, ensuring alignment with standard ratios.
• Serve as Engineer of Record, signing and sealing plans per licensure requirements.
• Perform advanced analysis, 3‑D numerical modeling, and design verification using CSI, MIDAS, Sofistik or similar software.
• Supervise and quality‑control quantity calculations and take‑offs performed by team members.
• Review shop drawings, RFIs, NCRs, and coordinate with clients, authorities, design partners, and internal teams.
• Provide technical assistance on construction sites, issue inspection reports, and validate execution of structural elements.

Required profile

• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Experience designing transit‑related structures and buildings.
• Ability to produce complete design packages from concept through construction.
• Willingness to travel for out‑of‑state assignments as needed.

Required skills

• AASHTO, CSA‑S6, AISC, ACI code knowledge.
• Proficiency with CSI software package, MIDAS, Sofistik or equivalent structural analysis tools.
• 3‑D numerical modeling and advanced structural analysis.
• Preparation of bills of quantities and design specifications.
