Structural Analysis Engineer II/III

About the role

Opterus is seeking a Structural Analysis Engineer II/III to lead system‑level architecture and develop robust analytical solutions for deployable space structures. You will work cross‑functionally with mechanical, manufacturing, and program management teams to define requirements and verify performance.

Key responsibilities

• Design and analyze composite, metallic, and hybrid structures for deployable space systems.
• Develop and run advanced finite element models (non‑linear, dynamic, composite behavior) to assess strength, stiffness, stability, dynamics, and environmental performance.
• Create and manage pointing/shape error budgets, support mechanical deployment design, and develop structural verification plans.
• Participate in material selection, laminate design, load case generation, and mass efficiency assessments.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute technical content for proposals and customer discussions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Structural, Mechanical, Aerospace or related engineering.
• 3+ years of structural design and analysis experience, preferably with precision spacecraft or deployable systems.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently on complex problems.

Required skills

• Abaqus (or equivalent FEA software).
• Python and MATLAB for analysis customization.
• SolidWorks or similar CAD/PLM tools.
• Thermal Desktop or comparable thermal analysis tools.

• Base salary $98,000‑$145,000 per year, based on experience.
