Stress Engineer – Advanced Concepts

About the role

BETA Technologies is seeking a Stress Engineer to own structural analysis methods, sizing substantiation, and independent challenge of design concepts for electric aircraft. The role supports aircraft development while building reusable capability for Advanced Systems teams.

Key responsibilities

• Perform global and local structural analyses, define allowables, margins, and evaluate joints and stability.
• Coordinate with Structures Design, Loads, Dynamics, Manufacturing & Production, and Composites teams.
• Produce and maintain analysis plans, FEM models, sizing reports, margin summaries, and risk items.
• Provide independent evidence to the Program Director/Chief Engineer on design load paths and sizing credibility.
• Document assumptions, interfaces, decisions, risks, and verification needs in configuration‑controlled records.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in aerospace, mechanical, civil/structural engineering or related field.
• 0–3 years of relevant experience, including internships, research projects, or design‑team work.
• Must be a US Person.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of statics, mechanics of materials, structural load paths, stress/strain, and linear finite‑element analysis.
• Familiarity with metallic and composite aircraft structures.
• Experience with at least one commercial FEA tool such as NASTRAN/FEMAP, Patran, Abaqus, ANSYS, or HyperMesh.
• Ability to construct or check basic FEM models, document loads and boundary conditions, and assess results for reasonableness.
