Travelling Wind Generator Technician

About the role

Ingeteam USA is hiring a travelling wind generator technician to support the operations, maintenance, QA/QC inspections, retrofits, commissioning and repair of wind turbine generators. The role works closely with the Field Services Manager and Site Manager, with minimal supervision, and includes work in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for periods that do not require travelling.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic and electrical problems, including repair or replacement of parts to fix failures, and carry out Root Cause Analysis.
• Perform testing and follow schematics, blueprints and work instructions.
• Follow the JPR2.032.C Repair Technician procedure and complete required reporting.
• Use company equipment and resources, and report issues that prevent safe work.
• Identify safety gaps and risks and recommend improvements; follow environmental, health and safety policies.
• Report work hours when travelling and complete other assigned tasks.

Required profile

• Associate degree in engineering or another relevant technical degree; 1+ years of relevant experience can replace the degree.
• Preferred: 1+ year of wind technician experience, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
• Ability to climb wind turbine towers up to 300 feet, up to three times a day, and to handle repetitive weight of 50+ lbs.
• Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record; must be able to travel long periods, work extended hours and respond to short-notice travel.
• Ability to work in adverse weather and confined spaces; Spanish reading and speaking preferred.

Required skills

• Basic electrical and mechanical knowledge, with ability to read and interpret engineering change orders, repair manuals, blueprints and schematics.
• Knowledge of electrical principles and concepts; troubleshooting electrical, mechanical or hydraulic problems preferred.
• Electrical testing experience preferred.
• OSHA-10, NFPA 70E, First Aid/CPR, Climbing and Tower Rescue certificates preferred.
