Strategic Sourcing Manager - Store Operations / MRO

About the role

The Strategic Sourcing Manager (SSM) develops and executes sourcing strategies supporting US stores for the supplies and services they need. The role reports to The Home Depot's Indirect Procurement Team, based in Atlanta, GA, and focuses on establishing and running Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) sourcing initiatives together with functional and business leaders. The ideal candidate has led sourcing initiatives and negotiations across MRO categories.

Key responsibilities

• Negotiate products and services within the assigned category to secure the lowest possible price (25%).
• Develop and execute strategic sourcing plans for assigned categories and work cross-functionally to streamline processes (25%).
• Initiate quality vendor relationships and evaluate them, terminating if necessary (5%).
• Work with stores and functional areas to define what to source, manage vendors and resolve issues such as quality and delivery (20%).
• Work with purchasing operations to ensure a smooth transition from initial deals to ongoing purchases and accurate order delivery (5%).
• Source and qualify vendors by researching their capabilities and product information (10%).

Required profile

• Able to negotiate in adversarial situations to reach the best deal in cost and quality.
• Thorough product knowledge of the assigned category and strong presentation and communication skills.
• Highly developed interpersonal skills for sensitive situations; works across functions and handles unstructured problems.
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree, SAP experience, project management experience, exposure to strategic sourcing, Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt certification, customer- and results-oriented.
• Preferred: 5 years of work experience; minimum 18 years old and legally permitted to work in the United States.
