Strategic Segment Proposal Engineer

About the role

ABB is hiring a Strategic Segment Proposal Engineer for its Electrification Smart Buildings division in the United States. The role develops technical and commercial proposals for focused industry segments (data centers and critical manufacturing facilities) and works with Strategic Account Sales Managers to drive inquiry-to-order functions on high-probability, high-profitability projects. It is a remote position open to candidates located anywhere in the US, reporting to the Sales Support Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Work with Strategic Account Sales Managers and strategic customers to identify the critical quality factors needed for growth.
• Organize and lead deal strategy and pricing discussions with internal stakeholders.
• Help develop solutions tailored to market segment needs using ABB's product portfolio, suggesting cost-reducing alternatives that improve customer value and project profitability.
• Evaluate project risk triggers (financial, commercial and technical) and initiate risk reviews with leadership, acting as the main contact for the risk manager when needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical distribution or a related industry, including at least 5 years in sales and project quotations.
• Experience with EPC, industrial or data center end users on large-scale projects with multiple work packages.
• Experience working with global and local cross-functional teams and with senior management.
• US work authorization; ability to travel up to 2-3 times a year.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of ABB electrical distribution products, industry design characteristics and configuration tools (ABB Empower).
• Use of electronic tools such as Microsoft Outlook, Salesforce and Teams to stay organized and communicate remotely.

What we offer

• Expected pay of $100,500 to $160,800 per year, with eligibility for a short-term incentive plan and annual bonus.
